Board of Immigration Appeals

Just because your case has been denied or an immigration judge has made an unfavorable ruling against your case doesn’t mean that your case has to end there. Luckily for immigrants and our clients, there is a second bite at the apple when it comes to immigration cases. The next step after obtaining an unfavorable ruling in immigration courts is to file an appeal with the Board of Immigration Appeals. The Board of Immigration Appeals is often shortened to BIA. An appeal at the BIA level, gives the noncitizen another opportunity to correct any errors made by the immigration court.
